One of the reasons we chose the Pressure King Pro was because it had better reviews for its ability to cook great rice than some competitor products.
After a few tweaks to get the rice how we like it, this is what we do for Basmati Rice (White or Brown), Timings for each type of rice are given.
Basmati Rice Recipe for Electric Pressure Cooker
2 cups brown or white basmati rice - rinsed thoroughly in boiling water (I do 3 short rinses) 2.5 cups boiling water 1 tsp herbamare or salt 1 tbsp oil for flavour (butter or coconut oil or palm oil)
Rinse the rice in the electric pressure cooker pot(preheats it nicely) and strain. Add remaining ingredients into PKP pot and stir until oil has dispersed.
Close the lid and set pressure valve on and set ‘pressure cook’ or ‘rice’ (both work the same) and change time to 1 mins for white basmati or 10 mins for brown basmati rice. Press start.
Once the time is up allow the cooker to stand untouched for 10 minutes in keep warm mode for natural pressure release and continued cooking using less electricity.
Carefully release any remaining pressure after 10 mins.
It usually takes about 6 minutes to heat up so I set kitchen timer to 17 mins (white basmati) or 26 minutes (brown basmati)when I press start and walk away.
